The Island of Lanzarote is the easternmost island in the Canary archipelago. Due to its proximity to the Sahara desert, it enjoy a warm, dry climate.
Lanzarote Island has around 140,000 inhabitants, making it the third most populated of the seven Canary Islands.
Compared to the other Canary Island, Lanzarote is relatively flat. At 670 metres, Mount PeƱas del Chache is the tallest mountain on the island.
The Timanfaya National Park is located on the island.
