Island Architecture

Canary Islands Tourist Information and Travel Guide

This Island of Gran Canaria has a long and rich history that dates back to the period of exploration and discovery.  In 1492, for example, Christopher Columbus sailed from Las Palmas and discovered America.

Across Gran Canaria Island, visitors will find many historic buildings, churches, cathedrals, palaces and city squares.  These structures are enhanced with colorful flowers and trees that thrive in the pleasant Canary Islands climate.
