Canary Islands Weather

The Canary Islands have one of the best climates in the world.  Due to their location in the North Atlantic between the Gulf Stream and the Sahara Desert, the weather is pleasant all year-round.

Because the islands are volcanic with mountains rising to an altitude of 3,718 meters, each island also has many microclimates.

In general, the islands located at the west of the archipelago are cooler and moister than those located towards the east.  This is due to the fact that the Gulf Stream flows west of the archipelago while the hot Sahara Desert is located to the east.
